Dekle Beach in Taylor County, Florida, was developed by businessman Gus J. Dekle in the mid-1940s. Previously used for salt manufacturing during the Civil War, Dekle transformed the area into a residential beach community by dredging channels and creating canals. He traded part of the beach to a friend in exchange for services, and later, other residents helped develop the area further. Today, Dekle Beach offers peaceful coastal views and parking access, making it a quiet getaway along Florida’s Panhandle.
